Welcome to Metro Soccer Report
Welcome to your home for coverage of the New York Red Bulls and the greater tri-state soccer scene
Mic Check 1 2 Mic Check… Okay, this thing is live, welcome to Metro Soccer Report I am Eric Friedlander founder and editor-in-chief of Metro Soccer Report. I have been covering the New York Red Bulls in some capacity for what I want to say is 5 years now. During that time I have had the opportunity to write for many publications including the dearly beloved Once a Metro. Last year with Once a Metro shutting down I wrote independently. However, I felt a void in this space and wanted to fill it with my vision. Now that I am back in the local market I plan to do just that.
So what is that vision? What will Metro Soccer Report be? Well, it will be a place for analysis and stories first and foremost. It will also be a work in progress as we grow and refine our approach. My goal is to provide fans of the Red Bulls consistent coverage without filling your feed and timeline with regurgitated press releases. Frankly, the coms and social team do a good job of that already you don’t need me to tell it again. What you will get from us is coverage of every match including previews and wrap-up post-game with our thoughts and analysis. In between that, we want to tell stories of the players on the team and be a source of information when it comes to new signings team operations, etc. As we grow we will look to cover more teams and tell more stories. If interested in writing about Red Bulls Gotham or lower leagues email me at Metrosoccerreport@gmail.com
Why Substack:
The reason I chose substack is because it’s simple and I believe in the newsletter style of delivery as our social platforms collapse in favor of the algorithm. Substack also makes monetization easier. This site will have paywalled content this will be our exclusive interviews and our deeper dives on the org and players. This is where I make my bad sales pitch by saying almost all of our content will be free. However, Support is always appreciated and allows for more opportunities to cover the team and generate content as I did last preseason when I attended the Coachella Valley Invitational. A new season and new coach have me super excited to cover this team and I hope you all come along for the ride be it with a paid subscription or just a free one
.
Looking forward to great things (good things...okay, fairly good things) from RBNY this season, and the Metro Soccer Report findings on them! Good luck!!
